The Face of the Uninsured This is my dad. No insurance company will give him health insurance. He's too young for Medicare/Medicaid. I'd pay a little more in taxes to know he'd have the health care he needs.

Crooked River Redux I had a hard drive failure a year or so ago and lost a whole chunk of personal work. Some of the shots were from my first trip to Smith Rock in Eastern Oregon. The high rez of one of my favorites is totally lost forever and only exists on this old post.
I've gone back a few times and never could quite get the same light quality. This is pretty close though. A wee bit more reddish.

fall zen Even though it's been clear and sunny lately, with winter in full effect the landscape is a little drab. Needed to bring some color from the fall.
I like the painted quality of this shot. It doesn't really look like a photograph to me. It's one of those shots that I can just stare at for a while and get lost in.

Florida Room Keeps it Real Lauren and I just moved to the Piedmont neighborhood of Portland. There's some great restaurants and bars nearby including the infamous Florida Room. The sign really sums it up nicely. In case you're wondering, I shot this with my point and shoot in JPEG mode. No adjustments or photoshoppery here!

Harvesters So, my Dad calls me the other day and tells me he and my Mom are going to become wind farm developers in New Mexico. If you know my parents, this will give you a bit of chuckle. After all, they built a spa in their backyard from a garden shed. But, I have faith they can do this and be successful at it. If all goes well, they will retire in luxury instead of living in our guest room. :)

Future Deschutes Brewery Patio There was a building here last time we went to Deschutes Brewery in Bend, OR. Lauren and I speculated that this could become a great outdoor patio spot for the pub (it totally needs it.)

The Bachelor From our trip last week to Bend, OR. We had great weather for most of our trip, but this little outing to Lava Cast Forest brought us some periodic showers. We kept putting our cameras away as the sprinkles turned to heavy drops. It's hard to tell at this image size, but there are streaks of rain drops showing up in the clouds. It's amazing how much shadow an highlight detail capture in a single RAW file. Seriously, who needs HDR with these modern sensors.

Me, My Studio, My Camera, & My iPhone I just took this picture using a Canon 5D Mark II, the new 17mm TS-E, and OnOne Software's DSLR Remote Pro on my iPhone. I shot tethered to my Mac Pro and processed through shot Lightroom 2. Blogged it using PixelPost
The whole process took less than 5 minutes. Nice.
